Its scientific name is Phyllanthus niruri is a herbal remedy native to the forests of Peru, Colombia and Brazil, is about 45 cm on average and has greenish-white flowers.

Chancapiedra means “break stone” because it has been used for generations to remove the stones from the bladder and kidney. It’s known also as: Chancapiedra, break stone, stone-breaker, arranca-pedras, punarnava, amli, bhonya, bhoomi amalaki, bhui-amla, bhui amla, bhuianvalah, bhuimy-amali, bhuin-amla.

Properties

This plant has many uses in traditional medicine, but is better known for being used in the problems of kidney stones in the kidney, which justifies its common name “break stone.” Its properties are mainly diuretic, but the plant is used as not inflammatory dermal and kidney stones, the leaves are not inflammatory, diuretic, digestive and healing.

In Peru is also used to treat hepatitis and urinary tract infections, in Brazil is used to reduce uric acid and is common in India for the treatment of asthma.

Preparation

It’s used in infusion, 50g. in one liter of water, with fasting and before meals.
