The scientific name of boldus is Peamus boldus, is a herb remedies very used during the Inca Empire to treat stomach aches. It was widely used before the interruption of the Spanish conquerors, is a small, leafy tree with white flowers and arranged as a bunch.

The boldus contains several alkaloids in which stands out the boldina that stimulates the production of gastric juice and bile, it increases the secretion of urea and uric acid. This herb is well known for its digestive properties for treat stomach diseases, digestive disorders, poor appetite, constipation, also used to treat liver ailments, for the treatment of hepatitis, calculations, colic, among others.

The boldus removes impurities from the blood that are accumulated because there is a malfunction of the kidneys and liver and helps out the bile that is accumulated in the gallbladder avoid causing more diseases in the body.

 


Preparation

The recommendation is boil about 15 grams of boldus’s leaves in one liter of water and drink two cups a day. The infusion is taken, preferably after a meal to stimulate the digestive system. 

To treat neuralgia and rheumatic pains you have to boil several boldus’s leaves in a little water, then with a clean cloth is placed in the affected area. 

The dried leaves of the medicinal herb are used to treat colds, and the crust is preparing in an infusion to treat nerve system problems. 

It is recommended not to take boldo during pregnancy, during the Time of lactation and childhood by the presence of alkaloids.
