It is a medicinal herb native to the Peruvian Andes used primarily to treat liver problems. Its name comes from the Quechua (native language of Peru) cachanlahuen that means “pain in the side.”

 

Its scientific name is Schkuria pinnata, has several common names such as: canchalagua, Calaguala, ccalahuala, ccalaihua.
